Committees & Taskforces

2017 Affiliate/Charity & Community Taskforce –

Chair Shannon Kallay, 440.251.8376, 

is made up of Affiliate and REALTOR® members. It has the responsibility to provide support to the real estate community through quality education, communication and professionalism and to plan and organize social events for the general membership of the Association.

Awards Taskforce –

Chair Sharon Zunkley, 440.477.3276,

has the responsibility to establish and execute a plan for systematically recognizing members’ professional achievements and contributions to the Association and the industry.

Bylaws Committee –

Chair Kayleen McDowell, 440.867.8288, 

is responsible to assure that the Bylaws of the Association are in compliance with the national (NAR) and state (OAR) associations bylaws; and that they are adequate to fulfill the purpose and functions of the Association.

Charity & Community Involvement Taskforce –

has the responsibility to explore ways to foster strong relationships with the communities in the Lake and Geauga area; to encourage community volunteerism among the membership; and to identify existing programs and develop new ones in which LGAAR members can participate and thereby provide assistance to those in need.

2017 Finance Committee –

Chair/Treasurer Denis Nowacki, 440.346.5740,

has the responsibility to develop and recommend an annual budget to the Board for their approval; to be familiar with financial reporting formats; to ensure that adequate accounting methods are in place; and to monitor and evaluate our financial positions, cash and capital, making recommendations, as necessary, to maintain fiscal responsibility and provide adequate resources.

2017 Grievance Committee –

Chair Lisa Sisko, 440.796.8043,

has the responsibility to conduct the preliminary investigation into and evaluation of all ethics complaints and arbitration requests filed within the Association. This committee makes a determination regarding the validity and substance of each complaint or request as to whether or not it warrants further investigation by the Professional Standards Committee.

Housing Needs/Diversity Committee

monitors, analyzes and disseminates information on local and state governmental activities affecting housing. It works to identify and develop programs that foster affordable housing opportunities for all citizens. It works to foster collaboration with local community agencies to provide access to safe and decent housing. The committee also promotes the purpose and provisions of the Realtor® Code for Equal Opportunity and the Code of Ethics.

2017 Legislative Committee –

Chair Rich Piraino, 440.223.1777, 

has the responsibility to stimulate political awareness among members and encourage their involvement in the political process at all levels. Realtors® Political Action Committee is the fundraising subcommittee. Contributions are made to those candidates seeking election to federal, state and local offices who are supportive of the real estate industry and its issues. New Realtor® Orientation Taskforce is the subcommittee that conducts the orientation class for newly licensed agents.

2017 Membership Services Committee –

Chair Betsy Forbes, 440.954.1258,

has the responsibility for recruitment of new members; to plan and conduct orientation programs for newly licensed Realtor applicants; to promote member retention; to assess member services and make appropriate recommendations for additions or deletions; and to identify potential services to benefit members both professionally and financially.

2017 New REALTOR® Orientation Taskforce –

establishes and executes instruction to new REALTOR® members how join LGAAR.

2017 Nominating Committee –

has the responsibility to identify and interview potential candidates for elective offices and directorships from among the membership and to nominate from among those eligible candidates one qualified member for each elective position.

2017 Past Presidents Council –

is an advisory group to the leadership of the Association.

2017 Point-of-Sale Committee –

is responsible to review all municipality ordinances.

2017 Professional Development Taskforce –

Chair Jennifer Allen, 440.796.4833, 

is responsible to promote education among members, to work with office staff to arrange for continuing education programs for the membership and to promote pursuit of professional designations.

2017 Professional Standards Committee –

Chair Dennis Falvey, 440.477.4310,

is responsible for the review and disposition of all ethics complaints or requests to arbitrate that are forwarded from the Grievance Committee. It shall conduct hearing panels to review each case, make determinations and recommendations as necessary to the Board of Directors. It is further responsible to educate members regarding ethical conduct.

2017 RPAC Taskforce –

Chair Jennifer Allen, 440.796.4833 

is a sub-committee of the Legislative Committee and is organized and operated exclusively for the purpose of collecting funds, which are allocated by the Ohio RPAC and National RPAC as contributions for candidates for election to federal, state and local offices.  The REALTORS(R) Political Action Campaign (“RPAC”) is governed by strict federal and state laws. It must be operated in compliance with the Internal Revenue Code and the Federal Campaign Act.

2017 Scholarship Taskforce (see Professional Development)

is responsible for the development and implementation of a scholarship program. Applications for financial assistance will be reviewed and monies awarded to assist our members who wish to further their professional education as they seek a broker’s license or other professional designation; ABR, CRS, GRI etc.

2017 Strategic Planning Committee –

Chair Sharon Zunkley, 440.477.3276, 

has the responsibility for the development and implementation of a 3-5 year strategic plan for the operation of the Association. Further this committee has the responsibility to evaluate and revise the plan as needed to maintain a 3-5 year prospective and to position the Association to meet the challenges of the marketplace and the needs of the membership.

2017 Young Professionals Network (“YPN”) –

Chair Emily Kozlik, 440.478.2105, 

helps young real estate professionals excel in their careers by giving them the tools and encouragement to become involved in four core areas: REALTOR® associations, Real estate industry, Peers, and Community.
